Cia and Phil – West Brewery wedding photography
Cia and Phil’s wedding at the fab West Brewery was an absolute riot of colour, fun and laughter. As I packed up my camera bag to head home my cheeks were aching from smiling and my sides genuinely hurt as I’d laughed so much!

Weddings at West Brewery, Glasgow
I love shooting at West Brewery. It’s such a great, alternative wedding venue. Housed in the iconic Templeton Building – based on the Doge’s Palace in Venice so you can imagine just how beautiful it is – West Brewery really does have it all. Great food, AMAZING beer, views across Glasgow Green and the friendliest, most laid back vibes. It was the ideal wedding venue for Cia and Phil who were determined to do things their way.
This wedding really hit close to home for me personally, Phil is Canadian so it was great hearing the Canadian accents throughout the day. It was so nice to photograph a UK/Canadian wedding, it’s not often that happens as you can imagine!
Cia and Phil kept their wedding lovely and small, with a really lovely mix of family and friends from across the two continents. They had a first look before the ceremony. Now, first looks are a big favourite of mine and they’re becoming increasingly popular which makes me very happy!
Most first looks are pretty private, just the couple and me. However Cia and Phil wanted to do things differently, they wanted everyone involved! After a glass of fizz and some cracker pulling (with the best “Dad” jokes ever inside!) Cia made her way out into The Courtyard where Phil was waiting, with all their loved ones gathered behind him. It was such a joyful moment.

Alternative wedding photography in Glasgow
Cia was wearing a hot pink dress which I adored. She’s such a vibrant, fun and outgoing person so her dress suited her to a T. I fell in love with her sparkly earrings, handmade by an independent jeweller. Phil had donned a traditional kilt. I really admired how they kept hold of traditions that they loved – kilts, Cia’s very proud Dad walking down the aisle with her – but were more than happy to get rid of any wedding rituals that didn’t do anything for them. Their day was a true reflection of them both as a couple.
One of the best things about working in the wedding industry is bumping into lovely fellow suppliers. My good pal, Humanist Caroline, was leading Cia and Phil’s ceremony. She is incredible at her job (proud friend alert!). She always manages to hit that perfect mix of romantic and sentimental with funny and honest.
After their ceremony, which was filled with laughter and heartfelt readings, it was time for my favourite moment of any wedding day – the post ceremony hugs! There is so much emotion at this point in the day. Joy, love, happy tears, huge smiles…

Relaxed wedding portraits on Glasgow Green
We kept the photos relaxed and natural with a real focus on candid moments. After some laid back group photographs Cia, Phil and I went on a little photo adventure around Glasgow Green and inside the brewery itself. We spent the time giggling away together before heading back inside in time for some excellent grub and a load of hilarious speeches.
As night fell it was time to hit the dancefloor. Cia and Phil’s guests were a great bunch and it didn’t surprise me that they were all straight in there for a boogie.
And so ended another brilliant West Brewery wedding, I loved every second and can’t wait to head back there again soon.
