Surprise Engagement Photography Scotland

You won’t find a more experienced proposal photographer anywhere in Scotland- and you won’t find many who specialise in this very specific type of photography session either!

I photographed my very first proposal back in 2018, when surprise engagement photography was virtually unheard of here in Scotland. As much as my nerves were on high alert (ALL The butterflies!) I absolutely loved being a part of such a special, once in a lifetime moment. Many years of experience photographing weddings- also full of quick moments that can’t be missed!- really helped me to feel confident enough to specialise as a proposal photographer in Scotland.

Who does surprise engagement photography require such specialist training and experience?

Here in Scotland, we are contending with the unpredictable nature of the great outdoors (Scottish weather, public spaces we don’t have control over, busy beauty spots, unpredictable venue closures) combined with the surprise element (your partner doesn’t know it’s coming, so all details need to be meticulously planned in advance- and if they need to be adapted, it has to be done discreetly too) and you’ve got the perfect recipe for disaster- unless you have the right person in place to help!

Over many years, I have built up my ability to adapt to any situation that might occur- from sourcing a backup location due to gates being closed off for high winds, from directing someone who is lost where to go, to total location changes during a storm, to finding secret spots the tour buses can’t get to- and I’m proud to say that every single proposal I’ve helped to coordinate has been a success.

The more proposals I photographed across the country, the more I realised I’d created a very special area of expertise for myself, and I started offering hybrid photography and videography packages as well as coordination.

Not just an engagement photographer- proposal coordination, Scottish travel tips and more!

As well as my vast experience working across Scotland as a proposal photographer, I also spend a lot of my spare time exploring the country: sometimes on my own, sometimes with my dog, and sometimes with my partner and my family. What does this mean for you? I don’t only know the specific part of the country I live in, but I’ve road tripped and hiked and climbed (almost) every nook and cranny. As well as the popular beauty spots and bustling cities, I know the lesser known areas: the quiet villages and obscure islands and secret spots nestled in between the busy ones.

When you book a surprise proposal photography session with me you aren’t just getting a photoshoot. You’re getting planning advice, coordination, a one to one meeting to go over all the details, email and text correspondence, a very specialised service on the day (flexible and adaptable to suit anything that might come our way!) as well as a very quick turnaround for a sneak peek of your photos (I know how excited you’ll be to share them) and  recommendations for the rest of your vacation in Scotland. More info on how surprise engagement photography sessions work here.

I also know my way around the nice restaurants, indie cafes, nicest hotels and best sightseeing activities and I’m more than happy to share my favourites with my wonderful couples so they can make the most of their time in Scotland. I want your happy memories to extend on past the big moment, and the day of the proposal itself!

Why choose me to photograph your surprise engagement in Scotland?

Very few photographers have the experience or the specific passion for photographing proposals, and it’s something I’m very proud of. I think it’s safe to say I am the expert proposal photographer here in Scotland, having now photographed well over 100 of them, all over the country, with a perfect track record for the propose-e (is that a word?!) saying YES!

My aim is to be your local wing-woman- because many of my couples are travelling from abroad and it’s not easy to choose specific locations, timings, and details when you’re hundreds or thousands of miles away.

I hope you can see how much time, energy and passion I have for what I do, and if you take a moment to read through my client feedback I think you’ll see that the experience I provide is second to none! If you’re more visual, take a look at the beautiful moments captured below- I think the smiles say it all!

My packages and prices are reflective of my expertise, the time and care I spend coordinating and carefully planning each session, and the limited number of sessions I take on each month so I can give each one the attention it deserves- and to be as flexible as possible to accommodate any unforeseen circumstances that might arrive. Will you find a cheaper proposal photographer here in Scotland? Absolutely. But you won’t find anyone with my experience, passion or expertise for photographing proposals- and when it comes to a once in a lifetime moment? You want the very best proposal photographer in Scotland to capture it. 😉
