There is something really special about DIY weddings. The amount of time and thought and effort that goes into planning every last wedding detail, and then bringing that vision to life, is pretty darn spectacular if you ask me.
Melissa & Danny planned the wedding of their dreams and they managed to do it pretty much all themselves, with the help of their wonderful family and friends. It all started with a dream of getting married on the beach, and as luck would have it, Danny’s parents happen to own a beautiful beachfront property in Fife, Scotland that they were more than happy to share! After months of planning and preparation, it came to the week of the wedding and garden and beach were transformed into a wedding wonderland. No detail was spared, from designing and creating a huge steel canopy and covering it with hundreds (yes HUNDREDS) of hanging seashells, to carefully arranged lobster crates and netting and driftwood, to a wooden sailboat turned beer cooler- and anything else you could dream up that fits in with a beach wedding theme.
I was blown away by their attention to detail, their creativity, and the way it all came together to create the most beautiful and unique backdrop for their day. And on top of the incredible setup, the day’s entertainment also blew me away; Danny comes from a very theatrical/musical family and there were numerous heartfelt performances throughout the day, including an operatic best man’s speech from the groom’s professional opera singer brother, a post dinner show tune rendition from a family member and a surprise choreographed performance involving a giant, some knights and a whole lot of laughter.
Despite my best efforts, my photos speak much more about M & D’s day than my words do- so I’ll leave it at that, and share a selection of my favourites from this incredible DIY beach wedding in Fife, Scotland.
