I’m not sure two people have ever been more excited to get married than Miriam & David. From first thing in the morning right through until the end of the night these two were absolutely beaming from ear to ear.
Getting ready one a few metres apart, in cozy log cabins just offsite from their wedding venue, there was nothing but excitement in the air. No concern about the gray clouds looming overhead, no anxiety about saying I Do’s- just pure happiness. Those happy feeling must have rubbed off on me too because when I saw Miriam in her dress for the first time I definitely shed a tear- admittedly I like to get to know my couples before their day, and if I get the chance to, as I did with Miriam, I can’t help but get a little emotional when the time comes.
Three Sisters’ Bake is a lovely DIY wedding venue in Killearn, Scotland known for fresh, locally sourced food and the most incredible cakes you’ll ever taste. It provides a (very nice) blank canvas for your day, and Miriam & David really made it theirs- one of the best things about planning a DIY wedding! Their attention to detail was second to none and they made almost all of the details themselves in the months leading up to their day. With soft, pastel colours and flowers dotted about they created a pretty, modern and rustic backdrop for their day.
As soon as they saw one another that was it- they couldn’t even wait for the kiss for their first embrace. Miriam & David chose to have a humanist ceremony and it was sweet and full of laughter, very personal to the couple and their story.
From there we moved on to a nice relaxed reception and the sun stayed shining all afternoon long- a far cry from the rain that battered down on us on our journey over! After some mingling time and a few “formal” photos (as you can see here, even formal photos with me are relaxed and full of laughs!) in the sunshine, we had a quick wander through the lovely village of Killearn for wedding photos of the bride and groom.
Dinner and drinks and dancing were lovely and relaxed, just as the rest of the day was, and afterwards we even managed to sneak out for sunset wedding portraits amongst the rolling hills of the Scottish countryside.
Their excitement to get married, the beautiful setting, the relaxed feel of their day and their incredible DIY details all made Miriam & David’s wedding one I won’t soon forget. Clearly- as today marks their one year anniversary and I couldn’t help but go back to blog this one!
I hope this gives you lots of DIY wedding inspiration, for your wedding in Scotland or elsewhere in the world!
