A stylish & intimate art nouveau inspired
Glasgow wedding at House for an Art Lover

Modern yet classic, with an art nouveau inspired twist: Natalya & David’s Glasgow wedding was intimate, stylish and focused on what’s really important: two people celebrating their choice to build a life together.

When they first got in touch, Natalya & David hadn’t been planning their wedding for long: they’d only been engaged a few months and already had a trip planned over to Europe for a music festival when they came up with the idea of stopping in Glasgow to say their vows. While they currently live in Canada, neither of them is Canadian: Natalya is from Russia but grew up with her family in Vancouver and David is originally from Glasgow, where his family still lives. A couple who love to travel, they decided they could have everything they wanted by flying over to Glasgow for a destination wedding, with David’s family present, and then heading back to Vancouver for a reception with Natalya’s family. This meant they had the intimate destination wedding of their dreams and neither of their families would miss out celebrating with them. That’s how you have your cake and eat it too!

Their ceremony was held at the Montrose Street registry offices, heartfelt and intimate, with only ten guests in attendance. Montrose Street is the perfect location for a small Glasgow wedding: it sits in the heart of the city and has a variety of ceremony rooms to choose from to suit the size and style of your urban wedding.

Glasgow is a city full of Art Nouveau style: dancing contrasts of light and dark, graceful lines and colourful stained glass can be found all over the city and one of the biggest influencers of those designs is Charles Rennie Mackintosh. He is credited with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture but one really stands out: House For an Art Lover.

Easily one of the most unique wedding venues in Glasgow, if not all of Scotland, this stunning art nouveau country house is an art lover’s dream: with dramatic contrasts of black and white, creative details and some of the most interesting gardens you’ll find anywhere in the country.

David’s family gave the couple a warm welcome to the venue (who doesn’t love a confetti shot?) and afterwards the couple took a lovely relaxed stroll around the venue grounds, stopping to enjoy some of the weird and wonderful sculptures that fill the park.

If you’re planning a wedding in Scotland and looking for a venue that’s stylish, creative and full of character you’ll find lots of inspiration in the photos below! Hope you enjoy them- and thanks again to Natalya and David for choosing me to capture their intimate urban Glasgow wedding at House For an Art Lover.
