Adjusting to life with a new baby is never easy, but this global pandemic has certainly thrown some additional challenges into the mix for new parents and growing families.
Of course the most important thing is that baby arrives safely, and everyone is well enough to go home together and find a new normal. The normal to be found right now, though, is really not that normal at all. We are restricted to where we can go, how often we can leave our homes and most difficult of all: who we can see. Plans of first cuddles with grandparents and first meetings with friends and family celebrations have been postponed for the foreseeable future.
Will it be too late to get photos of my new baby when lockdown is over?
While not nearly as tough as waiting to share those first baby cuddles, a lot of mums and dads who had booked, or were planning on booking a newborn photography session to capture those first days together have had to put their plans on hold. They’ve had to accept that their newborn session won’t happen within the first couple of weeks of their baby’s life as planned.

Understandably that’s prompted lots of messages from families who are wondering if it will be too late to get photos of their new baby taken when lockdown has lifted. And while I can’t see into the future and know when lockdown will end, I can confidently tell them, and you, that it will not be too late to get beautiful photos of your new baby when we are on the other side of this.
No matter how long it takes for lockdown to be lifted, your baby won’t be “too old” or “too big” to photograph.
They might not be brand new, but they will still be the newest addition to your family and there is no expiry date on that. Your photos won’t be any less special, or treasured, or beautiful if they happen when your baby is three months, six months or even nine months new.

Every stage of your baby’s growth will bring amazing new changes
At one month old, your baby will be more alert, more aware of their surroundings and more settled into life on the outside. You’ll be more comfortable at home, feel more connected to your baby and probably more like yourself again.
At three months old your baby will be smiling and cooing and curious about the world around them. They’ll still snuggle in nice and close for a cuddle and there’s a good chance we can still get some of those adorable sleepy baby photos in there too.
At six months old your baby will be laughing and babbling and showing off who they are. They might be sitting up or rolling over or trying to get on the move and their smile will light up the room.
At nine months old your baby will be more active than ever and showing off their ever-growing personality. They’ll be closer to you than ever and the way you interact together as a family will be really shining through.
Every stage of babyhood has something special about it- something worth documenting, something you’ll want to remember, something you’ll want to share with your wee one someday. These will be your most favourite memories- and the beautiful moments don’t stop after your baby is 14 days old. they just keep getting better.
