Life is full of surprises, and Aaron planned a whopper of one for his beautiful girlfriend Brooke, complete with an overseas adventure, a castle and something very sparkly.
Here’s the proposal story:
On Christmas morning, Brooke woke up at home in New Orleans, USA to find an envelope under her tree from her boyfriend Aaron. It told her she was going on a holiday tomorrow and to pack a week’s worth of warm clothes- the destination would be a mystery. It turned out to be a trip all the way over to Scotland to take in our beautiful scenery, enjoy the local food and drink and check out some castles. Brooke thought the surprise ended there, but the best part was still to come.
The couple picked up their rental car at Edinburgh airport, and Aaron suggested they make a quick stop on the way to their first destination so Brooke could see her very first castle. Little did she know, Aaron and I had been emailing back and forth for weeks to plan this “detour”, which was really a surprise Scottish proposal for the love of his life. Having scouted out the location, I sent Aaron some ideas for the perfect spot to pop the question and we decided on the top of this lovely secluded stone staircase on a hill, surrounded by greenery and with a view of Loch Lomond.
I arrived well ahead of them, and as the sauntered up the hill Brooke didn’t suspect a thing. I slyly pretended to photograph landscapes and trees until Aaron got down on one knee and I turned my attention onto them at the perfect moment. Brooke said yes (obviously!) and I had the third and final surprise ready to go in my camera bag- a nice cold bottle of champagne with two glasses to celebrate.
After they took a few minutes to themselves, we took a walk together around Balloch Country Park for an engagement session- a great way to commemorate a very special trip to Scotland together.
